A BOY has been rescued after he became stuck up to his thighs in mud while on a Wirral beach.
This afternoon (Saturday, January 25) the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team were called alongside HM Coastguard Crosby to reports of a 15-year-old boy stuck in the mud at Barbers Folly near Meols.
When crews arrived they found the teenager was stuck thigh deep in the mud next to the rock armour and used specialist equipment to rescue him.
A spokesperson for the Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team said: “The team were called this afternoon, alongside HM Coastguard Crosby, to reports of a 15 year old male stuck in the mud.
“On arrival Coastguard Rescue Officers used specialist equipment to rescue the casualty. He was thigh deep in the mud next to the rock armour, locally known as Barbers Folly.
“Once clear of the mud he was checked over – He was suffering from the cold and was warmed up at our station until he was collected by family members.”
