Woman rushed to hospital after being attacked in her home

A woman was rushed to hospital after being attacked in her home and left injured.

The 30-year-old was assaulted at around 9.30am on Thursday morning before emergency services were called to a property on Britonside Avenue in Kirkby.

She was taken to hospital for treatment shortly before police officers arrested a man over the incident.

A Stockbridge Village man was taken into custody in connection with the attack.

The 47-year-old is currently being questioned over the assault which is believed to be domestic related.

A cordon was erected at the home and witnesses said that police could be seen coming and going from the property throughout the day.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "A man has been arrested today (Thursday, 27 August) following an incident at an address in Britonside Avenue, Kirkby.

"Officers were called to the address at around 9.30am to reports a 30-year-old woman was injured.

"A short time later a 47-year-old man from Stockbridge Village was arrested in connection with the incident.

"Officers are speaking with the injured woman to piece together the full circumstances.

"The property has been cordoned off and house to house enquiries have been carried out.
