A woman was found dead in her home after police, paramedics and fire crews surrounded the house.
Emergency services were called to the property on Frodsham Street, in Walton, at around 4pm on Friday afternoon.
They were called out to reports of concern for the woman who lived there before entering the home.
When they went into the house, the woman was tragically found dead inside as the emergency vehicles filled the street.
Gas engineers were also seen coming and going from the property throughout the evening.
Merseyside Police confirmed the sad news of the woman's death and stated that the circumstances were currently being treated as unexplained.
The woman's next of kin have been informed but she has not yet been formally identified.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are in Walton following the unexplained death of a woman today, Friday 3 July.
"At around 4pm, officers attended a premises on Frodsham Street following a concern for safety, and sadly found a woman deceased.
"Her next of kin have been notified and she will be formally identified.
"At this stage, the incident is being treated as unexplained as enquiries continue."
