Woman, 22, suffers face injuries after attack in city centre flat

A 22-year-old woman has suffered face and hand injuries after she was attacked in the city centre during the early hours of Sunday morning.

At about 3am officers were called to the Unity building, on Rumford Place, to reports of an assault.

The force said the victim suffered cuts to her face and hands and a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a Section 39 assault.

Police said the incident happened inside of a flat.

The man has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

A spokeswoman for the police said: "We arrested a 39 year-old man on suspicion of s39 assault following an incident in a flat in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Sunday 23 August.

"Police were called to the Unity building on Rumford Place at just after 3am following reports a 22 year-old woman had been assaulted and suffered lacerations to her hands and face.

"The man has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries."
