RESIDENTS across Wirral fell silent to remember the fallen at Remembrance Sunday services across the borough.
Despite the rainy weather, residents came together to pay their respects yesterday (Sunday, November 12).
The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Jerry Williams, led the Civic Service at the Cenotaph in Hamilton Square in Birkenhead.
A two-minute silence was observed at 11am, followed by a traditional Service of Remembrance, taken by the Vicar of Birkenhead Priory Parish, Rev. Paul Bentley. The reading and blessing were given by the Bishop of Birkenhead, the Rt. Revd. Julie Conalty.

Elaine Burrows captured a woollen poppy wreath knitted by her 91-year-old Aunty Gladys as it was placed it at her Grandad's memorial plaque in Birkenhead.
She said the "wet Remembrance Day didn't deter the crowd".
