Liverpool Council is bracing itself for the worst today.
The findings of what is expected to be a damning report into activities at the city authority will be laid out for all to see.
The government will then announce what actions will be taken next and whether Whitehall commissioners will be sent in to take over the day-to-day running of the council.
It would be a huge and drastic move and one never been done before on this scale.
So all eyes will be on Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick today.
Mr Jenrick is expected to make a statement to Parliament regarding Liverpool City Council in the House of Commons this afternoon.
According to the Parliament schedule, he will make his statement shortly after Prime Minister's Questions, which concludes at around 12.30pm.
After this there will be a ministerial statement from Chris Philp, after which Mr Jenrick will rise.

In his statement he is expected to summarise the findings of the inspection report, carried out by Max Caller over the past three months.
He will then make his recommendations for what happens next, which could see the entire council taken over by government commissioners.
Following this, it is expected that the full inspection report from Max Caller will be published.
