A person has died after being hit by a train near a Merseyrail station this morning.
The incident took place just before 8.27am, according to the rail operator, near Eastham Rake station in Wirral.
Services are delayed on the Chester to Ellesmere Port line as a result while emergency services are at the scene to deal with the incident.
This is the second incident this week involving a person being struck by a train on Merseyside, after a man became trapped under a Merseryail train near Aigburth station on Wednesday.

Person dies after being hit by a train
Police have confirmed that the person hit by a train was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called at 8.27am on 10/07 to Eastham Rake station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
"Officers attended but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
"Officers are in the process of preparing a report for the coroner."
Ambulance attended the scene
Paramedics were called to Eastham Rake railway station at 8.29am this morning but nobody was taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: "At 8.29am we were called to Eastham Rake railway station to reports that a person had been hit by a train.
"We sent a land ambulance to the scene along with a senior clinician.
"Nobody was taken to hospital from the scene."
Rail replacement service in operation
A rail replacement bus service is being organised to run between Rock Ferry and Chester/Ellesmere Port during the disruption.

Merseyrail have confirmed that a person was struck by a train this morning. It has cancelled some services into Liverpool.
