Updates as major road closed in both directions due to crash

Police have closed Walton Lane in both directions after a road traffic collision on Sunday afternoon.

In a tweet, Merseytravel said that the incident near Queens Drive had caused the road to be closed, with delays and diversions, including for the Number 19 bus.

An image believed to be taken at the scene showed four police cars blocking the road while traffic queued.

The ECHO has been unable to get any information from police at this time on the nature of the incident.

According to Merseytravel, Walton Lane is currently closed both ways as police deal with an incident which is thought to be a crash. We will have more information shortly.

Witnesses describe the accident as happening near the Taxicab Drivers Sports and Social Club, close to where Walton Lane meets Queens Drive and Walton Hall Avenue.
