WORK on the outside structure of eight new homes in Birkenhead has been completed.

The development on Brook Street is a joint venture between Magenta Living and Starship Group, with the energy-efficient homes expected to be finished by the summer of 2025.

Representatives from Magenta Living, Starship Group, and Homes England visited the site this week to discuss the next steps.

The site has been empty for more than 13 years, formerly being home to the Brooklands high-rise, which was demolished in 2011.

The £1.9 million project is the third collaboration between Magenta and Starship.

Constructed mainly off-site in Starship's Wallasey factory, the build consists of modular homes. According to statement from the company, this allows for faster construction and minimal disruption to the community.

Magenta is aiming to build 1,000 new homes by 2030.

Debi Marriott-Lavery, chief executive at Magenta Living, said: "This development is a bold step forward for Magenta Living.

"We are embracing new construction methods to deliver homes with lower bills and reduced maintenance needs, providing great places for people to live and community regeneration."

Starship director, Chris Dodd, said: "We are delighted to be working with Magenta for the third time on this exciting development.

"This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how innovative construction methods can create affordable, high-quality homes."

The project has received partial funding from Homes England's Affordable Home Programme.
