A major road was closed after a Hyundai smashed into a police car responding to an emergency call.
The crash happened at around 8.20pm on Wednesday when two patrol cars were being driven at speed along Green Lane in Tuebrook in response to an emergency incident.
The second patrol car was struck by a Hyundai Santa Fe as it entered Green Lane at its junction with West Derby Road.
Merseyside Police today confirmed that three women, who were occupants in the Hyundai, suffered minor injuries during the crash.
A large police cordon was put in place as emergency services responded to the incident and the vehicles were recovered.
Several police cars, an ambulance and a fire engine were pictured parked up along the length of the road.
The patrol car was left damaged by the impact of the crash, with the front section badly smashed and the vehicle needing to be loaded on to a recovery vehicle.
