A man has admitted killing his "bubbly and lovely" mum after she was stabbed to death inside her own home.
Lorraine Cullen was found dead at her address on Radway Road in Huyton on the morning of May 11 2022. Alan Williams, who was 21 at the time, was arrested the same day on nearby York Road and previously pleaded not guilty to murdering his 43-year-old mother.
He appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this morning, Friday, via video link to Ashworth Hospital and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. The now 23-year-old will next appear before the same court on June 28, with a five-day trial scheduled for July 22.

Merseyside Police confirmed following Ms Cullen's death that the arrested suspect had been detained under the Mental Health Act and was receiving treatment, and confirmed that no other persons were being sought over the incident. The force also confirmed her cause of death as one of multiple stab wounds.
Williams has since been confined to the secure psychiatric facility in Maghull. Family friend Paula McNally previously told the ECHO shortly after Ms Cullen died: "She was my friend and her daughter is friends with my son.
"We've all known her for quite some time. She was just the life and soul of the party.
"She was bubbly, so positive and just chatty. She was just never a negative person."
One woman who lived near the scene added: "It was just after all the kids were going to school. The police came and there were a few people gathered outside.
"I didn't know her well, but she was a lovely person. I would go over when the little one was playing in the garden and speak to her, she was playing outside on the trampoline last night."
Another neighbour said: "She was a lovely looking girl. It is devastating, absolutely devastating.
"She was bubbly. I didn't know her well, but she was lovely."
