The year seven pupil at Stanley High School in Southport took her own life after an interview with police, mum Rachel claims. The 12-year-old girl claimed she was raped by an older boy who she said had groomed her over Snapchat.

Before moving to high school, Semina had been a student at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Southport and the school has now named an award in honour of her. In a letter sent to Semina's mum, Rachel, the school said: "Semina holds a very special place in our hearts here at St. Patrick's and having been lucky enough to have taught her, I know just how much sparkle and creativity she had to offer.

"I know she'd be so proud of the Y6 pupil that we are sharing this award with today because this person has certainly gone above and beyond with their creativity. From journaling to designing, to choreographing numerous dances; they've always shared a thirst for the wider curriculum and nothing has ever been too much trouble for them. Just like Semina, this person has been an absolute treasure to teach and joy to be around.

"Without realising, they've been the biggest support network to so many of their friends and have made our classroom a special place to be. It is my pleasure to present this award to our very own crocheting queen."

Rachel, who is still awaiting an inquest into the death of Semina, sent a message to the pupil who won the award at St Patrick's. In the message, Rachel said: "Hi, this message is for you. Congratulations today on receiving the Semina Halliwell Award at St Patrick's. It was so deserved.

"I know you've had a really difficult time over the last couple of years but you've pulled through it and you've come out the other side, and I'm really really proud of you. I've heard the most beautiful stories today from different people about your creativity and your choreography for dancing.

"I'm so proud of you and I know that Semina will be looking down from heaven and she would be so happy and so proud to see you today walk up and receive that award. I know that you've left primary school today and now you start a new journey into high school. I wish you all the very best, make new friends and start a new journey but I just want to say congratulations to you, it's well deserved today and I wish you a wonderful six weeks holiday and a wonderful future."
