A police car responding to an emergency call was involved in a crash with another vehicle being driven by a nurse.

Both cars had to be recovered after the crash in Southport, on April 24.

The police car was responding to an emergency call when it crashed with a Citroen C3 at the junction of Liverpool Road and Arundel Road.

Debris spilled across the carriageway and the police car crashed into barriers between the road and pavement opposite the Crown pub.

The ECHO understands that the other car was being driven by a nurse, who was not seriously injured.

The occupants of the police car also did not require medical attention and the ambulance services were not called to the scene.

The road was closed off by additional officers as the vehicles were recovered from the scene.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “At 11.30am, officers were called to Liverpool Road at the junction of Arundel Road to reports of a collision between a police car and a Citroen C3.
