AN ELLESMERE Port man who aroused suspicion from police for spending too long in a toilet cubicle has been fined for possessing cannabis.
Dylan Williams, 20 and of Colemere Court, pleaded guilty to one charge of possession of a Class B drug (cannabis) at Chester Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Valeriya Tonkinson, prosecuting, told the court that on November 16 last year, officers were sent to Madison Bar in Princes Road in the town for an unrelated incident.
While there, they noticed Williams had entered the toilet and that he was still in there after five minutes, which they found suspicious.
Through CCTV, they realised that he was in a cubicle and went in to knock to ask him to come out and he told them he was busy.
He eventually came out and immediately informed officers that a search would result in a small amount of cannabis for personal use being found.
Williams gave a no comment interview and the court heard that he had previous drug-related convictions.
Chris Hunt, defending, told the court his client volunteered information to police about his possession of cannabis and that he entered an early guilty plea.
Magistrates fined the 20-year-old £80 and ordered to pays costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £32.
