National Tree Week: How to become a member of Wirral tree wardens

Nov 29, 2023

WIRRAL Council is asking residents to join the borough’s tree wardens during this year’s National Tree Week.

Throughout National Tree Week, November 25 to December 3, the council have activities planned to celebrate, including another opportunity to join the tree warden network by attending an induction workshop.

The Tree Warden scheme is a voluntary social community of nature lovers, now led by the council locally and overseen nationally by the Tree Council.

There is a yearly programme of events that members can get involved with and just some of the activities include seed collection, tree planting and maintenance, training and learning, book clubs, walks and photography competitions.

Once you’re signed up as a warden, you can get involved with as many activities as you want, or just choose those that suit your areas of interest.

During National Tree Week, existing members of the group, will be taking part in maintenance events to help look after those trees that were planted in previous planting seasons, as well as watching a demonstration of the equipment used to detect decay in trees. Reading, Basingstoke, Berkshire

The week will come to an end with an induction and walk around Dibbinsdale Local Nature Reserve on Saturday, December 2.

Help celebrate National Tree Week as a new member of the network. Find out more and sign up to the induction by emailing
