Mystery as man found collapsed in the street fights for his life

A man found collapsed in a Liverpool street is fighting for his life as police hunt for answers over what happened to him.

Emergency services were called to Devonshire Road, near Princes Park, shortly before 11am on Thursday.

There, a man in his 30s was found before being rushed to hospital for treatment.

His condition is being described as "critical" by officers – which means he is fighting for his life – but it is not yet clear how or why he was in the area and came to be injured.

Detectives are currently working to establish the full circumstances and have asked anyone with information to come forward to speak to them.

Witnesses are asked to get in touch as officers remain in the area and search through CCTV that might provide some answers.

A police cordon has also been placed at the scene where the man was found as police investigate the incident.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Detectives are investigating after a man was found collapsed on Devonshire Road, Princes Park earlier today (Thursday, 13 August).

"Emergency services were called at around 10.50am and a man in his 30’s was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.

"The circumstances are unclear and Detectives are working to establish how the man came to be there.
