Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries after crash with police car

A motorcyclist is in a serous condition after a crash with a police vehicle in Liverpool city centre.

Emergency services were called out to Upper Duke Street at around 2.15pm on May 10, following reports of a crash.

The motorcyclist is said to be in a serious condition and was taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not yet known.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office For Police Conduct for investigation.

Road closures are currently in place on Duke Street , Upper Duke Street , Roscoe Street , Great George Street , Berry Street , Leece Street and Hardman Street.

A large police presence remains at the scene.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said to the ECHO : "Emergency services are currently in attendance of Upper Duke Street, Liverpool this afternoon (10th May) following reports of a road traffic collision.

"It was reported that a Police vehicle and a motorcycle were involved in the collision at around 2:15pm.

"The motorcyclist is said to be in a serious condition and has been taken to hospital.

"Road closures are in place on Duke St, Upper Duke St, Roscoe St, Great George St, Berry St and Leece St and Hardman St. Please avoid the are if you are making any essential journeys.

The incident will be referred to the IOPC for investigation."
