MORE than 60 businesses were created in Wirral last year due to free business support.
Wirral Council’s Business Support Service has given free support to 533 businesses in the last year, helping the creation of 66 new businesses in the borough.
The service, which offers up to 12 hours of fully-funded support to all Wirral businesses and is delivered by Wirral Chamber of Commerce, has also helped introduce 82 new jobs in to the local economy.
Support is tailored to each individual business and can include guidance on marketing, training, HR, funding and finance.
Cllr Tony Jones, chair of Wirral Council’s Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many Wirral businesses benefitting from this free service, from established businesses to ambitious start-ups.
“A thriving business sector is a boost for our communities, helping create more jobs and bringing more money into our local economy.
“Contacting the Business Support Service has been a game-changer for us.”
One of the businesses which has benefitted is Graze Upon Us, a catering business formed in Spring 2020 by best friends from Wallasey, Kate Satam and Megan Lear-Roach.
Kate said: “Starting a business is daunting, however the help and support out there is immense. Contacting the Business Support Service has been a game-changer for us.”

“Only last week I referred to my notes from a social media class I attended and it worked, I got 15,000 views by applying something I got taught!”
