FORECASTERS have issued a warning for Wirral as temperatures are set to drop below freezing.
A yellow weather warning for ice has been put in place across the borough by the Met Office.
The warning comes into force from 4pm today (Wednesday, November 20) and is in place until 10am tomorrow morning (Thursday, November 21).
Experts have said that icy stretches will lead to “difficult travelling conditions” and that people should expect icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
Meteorologists also warned that injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces could also be possible.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces during Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday as temperatures drop below freezing.
“A few sleet or snow showers are also likely at times, particularly close to coasts.”
