MERSEYRAIL has announced that it will operate a 15-minute service across most of its network from Monday, May 2.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Merseyrail services were reduced due to the impact the virus had on staffing numbers, however, with restrictions removed and more staff available, the rail operator is pleased to announce a return to its pre-Covid frequency.

The changes are as follows:

  • Southport line ā€“ every 15 minutes from the start to the end of service
  • All other lines (except Ellesmere Port) ā€“ every 15 minutes between approximately 7am and 7pm, with a 30-minute service operating outside of these hours
  • Ellesmere Port line ā€“ every 30 minutes from the start to the end of service every day with additional trains running between 07.15am and 8.30am for the morning peak and 4.30pm and 5.30pm for the evening peak Monday to Friday
  • A 30-minute service will operate on Sundays across all lines.
