Man's life turns around after he was stopped outside Lime Street station
Joe Carden revealed how he had fallen on hard times
A man's life has turned around after he was stopped outside Lime Street Station. Joe Carden was exiting the city centre station when he was stopped by entrepreneur Simon Squibb.
Simon has built up millions of followers on social media with his videos that involve asking people in the street to tell him about their aspirations. In the video shared on his channel yesterday, he presents Joe with an offer to receive his new book, What's Your Dream, or take £1,000.
Joe says he wants to take the book rather than the money, which prompts Simon to explain: "Humans, naturally, we want to support each other. Your instinct is to support me.
"You want to connect with me, right? That's powerful and people are forgetting it because everything's a transaction. People think everything's about money. I want to give you this £1,000 if your dream is good."
Joe explained he had fallen on hard times and harbours dreams to open up his own business. He said: "I was made redundant in 2023 and I've always wanted to become a barber so I went and did the course in London. The dream is to have my own barber shop."
When asked about the name, he said: "I wanted it to just be Bar Bers and have a bar in there. I want to have a nice quirky vibe so when people have their haircuts, it's more of a social atmosphere.
Simon offers to invest in his business in the clip, which has now had over 2.1m views on TikTok. The entrepenuer said: "I'm buying 0.01% of your business for £1,000, which makes your business worth £1m. There you go."
On TikTok, people took to the comments as they noticed the background was Lime Street station. Lou said: "When were you in Liverpool?"
Lucy commented: "how did I miss Simon in Liverpool" @Player_1 took to the comments and added: "You were in Liverpool!! Absolutely gutted!!!"
Fans heaped praise on the video as they praised the content as inspiring. Helen said: "Omg, I wish this guy all the best. Keeping hold of a dream in the face of the hardship of being laid off over a year ago isn't easy."
