Man stabbed 28 year old in stomach at Southport hotel

A man has admitted stabbing a 28-year-old at a Southport hotel last month.

Brazan Mohammedadin, 26, admitted stabbing Yasir Iqbal in the stomach at The Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street.

Police descended on the hotel on August 19 this year at 8.20pm.

Mr Iqbal was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed and received non-life-threatening injuries.

Mohammedadin, of Marsh Lane, Bootle, appeared today (September 18) at Liverpool Crown Court.

He appeared before Judge David Aubrey, QC, where he denied grievous bodily harm with intent but admitted causing grievous bodily harm without intent.

The prosecution accepted the guilty plea to the lesser charge and the case was adjourned to allow for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Mohammedadin will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on October 1 to be sentenced.

Following the incident at the Southport hotel, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “At around 8.20pm, officers were called to the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street following reports a 28-year-old man had been assaulted, sustaining a stab wound to his stomach.
