Man arrested after knife spotted during gang row outside shops

A man was arrested after a knife was spotted during a gang row outside a row of shops.

Police were called to Page Moss Lane, in Huyton, shortly before 4pm after witnesses saw two men arguing in the street.

The pair were standing among a gang of people and one was reported holding a knife before officers arrived.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and going equipped for theft.

He has been taken into custody for questioning and a police investigation is ongoing.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were contacted at just before 4pm today, Wednesday 29 July, to reports of two males who were in a group arguing on Page Moss Lane and that one of the males was armed with a knife.

"Officers attended at the scene and arrested a male on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and going equipped for theft.

"He is currently being taken into custody.
