Knowsley, Liverpool and Wirral see weekly rates drop week on week

Covid-19 infection rates have dropped by at least two fifths week on week in three parts of the Liverpool City Region.

According to the latest data from Public Health England , Knowsley, Liverpool and Wirral have cut there infection rates week on week by 42%, 45% and 43%, respectively, in the week ending March 7.

In Knowsley, there is an infection rate of 60.3 per 100,000 people. There were 91 cases in the last week, which is 65 fewer cases than the previous week.

While in Liverpool, there is an infection rate of 55.8. There were 278 cases in the last week, which is 230 fewer cases than the previous week.

And in Wirral, there is an infection rate of 47.5. There were 154 cases in the last week, which is 114 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest data shows that Wirral, Liverpool, and Halton all have rates that are below the national average for the whole of England (which is 59.55). In Halton, there is an infection rate of 56.4 per 100,000 people for the week ending March 7.

There were 73 cases in Halton in the last week, which is 38 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change in Halton dropped by 34%.

There have been big weekly drops in St Helens, Sefton and the LCR as a whole.

In St Helens, there is an infection rate of 86.4 per 100,000 people for the week ending March 7.

There were 156 cases in St Helens in the last week, which is 88 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 36%.

In Sefton, there is an infection rate of 65.8 per 100,000 people for the week ending March 7. There were 182 cases in Sefton in the last week, which is 53 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 23%.

In the LCR, there is an infection rate of 54.85 per 100,000 people for the week ending March 7. There were 934 cases in the LCR in the last week, which is 588 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 37%.

The week on week percentage changes have also dropped in areas close to the Mersey conurbation area.

In Cheshire West and Chester, there is an infection rate of 60.63 for the week ending March 7. There were 208 cases in Cheshire West and Chester in the last week, which is 101 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 33%.

In Warrington, there is an infection rate of 84.28 for the week ending March 7. There were 177 cases in Warrington in the last week, which is 15 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 8%.

In West Lancashire, there is an infection rate of 89.23 for the week ending March 7. There were 102 cases in West Lancashire in the last week, which is 6 (six) fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 6%.

In England, there is an infection rate of 59.55 for the week ending March 7. There were 33,521 cases in England in the last week, which is 12,377 fewer cases than the previous week. This means the week on week change dropped by 27%.
