A much-loved young man was shot dead through a kitchen window by a gunman outside his family home, it has emerged.
Heartbroken relatives told the ECHO how Michael Rainsford, 20, was downstairs at the Harrington Road address, in Litherland, when the killer fired his weapon.
The bullet passed through the glass and hit the victim as he was downstairs in the property in Litherland, at about 11.10pm on Tuesday.
He was rushed to hospital and died a short time later.
Today, heartbroken close friends paid a emotional and poignant tribute to the 20-year-old describing him as a "kind, loving person."
They added: "How can an innocent life just be taken like that?"
Detectives have launched a murder investigation and investigations were continuing to locate the person responsible, who remains on the run.
Results of a post mortem examination are expected soon to establish exactly how Mr Rainsford died, where he was shot, and how many times.
Launching an online fundraising appeal, one pal said: "For friends, to donate towards funeral costs to help his family during this difficult time.
"There are no words that anyone can say to express how horrible and tragic this is.
"We all can’t believe this has happened to you, Mikey.
"Everyone's sad, it doesn’t seem real how you’re here one day and gone the next.
"You were a kind loving friendly person, you would make a room light up and bring laughter, you’ll be deeply missed.
"How can an innocent life just be taken like that?
"Forever young Mikey, we love you.
"May all our memories last forever.
"You'll be forever remembered and missed.
"Our deepest condolences go to your mum, dad and family.
