But this Thursday night she explained she couldn't film the household clapping on her phone because Derek was on FaceTime.

She wrote on Instagram: "So our NHS clap was a little different tonight. We still clapped and cheered as much as ever but I couldn’t film on my phone as had Derek on FaceTime throughout!

"Of course we can’t KNOW but I believe he can hear us and thought at least the incredible NHS teams looking after him would hear a fraction of our gratitude."

Kate made the comments while posting a video of her son Billy's Lego model of their family.

She wrote: "Billy made this for his Dad’s carers to show how much he means to our family & to say thank you for fighting to bring him back to us. I am hoping they will let Derek have it by his bed.

"But even if they can’t THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts – you are superheroes.

"Love to all in these terrible times – the separation from loved ones whatever the reason is so tough."

Last week, she thanked her followers for their love and support, reports the Mirror.

Kate shared: "I wanted to send a huge thank you to all of you who have sent me such wonderful messages wishing Derek well. It has meant the world to me.

"I am sorry I have not been able to reply to them individually, as I am sure you will understand that I am focusing on my family and Derek right now."
