Latest images from the scene and what we know so far

So far, the Police have said a 34-year-old man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance following a suspected assault.

His injuries are believed to be serious, with police taping off streets near the Cambridge Road area.

Two men, aged 44 and 45 have been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault and taken into custody.

BREAKING: Full statement from police

At 11.56am on Wednesday 13 May police received a report of a man with serious injuries in a property on Whitby Road in Ellesmere Port.

The man, aged 34, has been taken to hospital by air ambulance with injuries believed to be serious.

A scene is currently in place at an address on Whitby Road.

Two men, aged 44 and 45, have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and are currently in custody.

Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 703803.

Three police vehicles are seen on nearby Cambridge Road.

Part of the street has been cordoned off and is being treated as an active crime scene, as seen in these images by our colleagues at Cheshire Live.

The cordon includes several shops and an entrance which could be to flats above the business premises.
