He kept his dirty secret hidden away for years before his sick crimes were uncovered

A pervert spent years secretly filming women and children in states of undress. Alexander Kerr surreptitiously videoed young girls playing in their swimming costumes and changing out of their school uniforms.
He also spied on a woman in her lingerie through her window while she undressed in the privacy of her flat. His sick crimes continued even after the police came knocking at his door and discovered his vile stash of hundreds of indecent images of children.
Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday, Wednesday, that Kerr was arrested on August 31 2022 after the police received information indicating that he had been downloading such materials via peer to peer software. Some 11 electronic devices were seized from the 62-year-old, of Rushmore Drive in Widnes, at this stage, with six being found to contain illegal pictures and videos.

Suzanne Payne, prosecuting, described how officers discovered that he had collected a total of 432 category A indecent images, those showing the most serious forms of abuse. This consisted of 80 stills and 352 videos.
Kerr was also found to have collected 357 images in category B and 816 in category C, as well as 44 extreme pornographic images. According to charge sheets, the latter depicted sexual acts involving dogs.
An SD card was also recovered from his camera, which uncovered the fact that he had secretly taken pictures of a 10-year-old girl who was playing with other children in the garden of a house while she was wearing only her swimming costume. Kerr had meanwhile videoed a 15-year-old girl changing out of her school uniform in her bedroom and recorded a third victim "moving from room to room" in her home before capturing her engaged in a "private act".
This led to him being arrested for a second time in August last year. PCs seized a further 12 electronic devices from him at this stage, with their contents revealing that he had gone on to secretly film another woman in her apartment wearing only her underwear as she undressed.
Kerr had meanwhile amassed a further 96 category A indecent images of children, 72 in category B and 1,006 in category C, as well as 64 computer generated images depicting youngsters involved in sexual activity. Some of the materials he had collected were said to have been downloaded as long ago as 2002, with one video having shown a four-year-old being raped by a man and others containing titles such as "paedo child lover".
The ECHO understands that some of his recordings dated back around a decade, having been captured at locations in Runcorn and Widnes. Kerr has no previous convictions.
Jeremy Rawson, defending, told the court: "He is, in my submission, of positive good character, with a long history of employment. He has taken substantial steps to address his offending behaviour.
"Of course, there is remorse. He is a married man. His wife is in court. She does work, but does not earn sufficiently to maintain the lifestyle they have."
Kerr admitted two counts of voyeurism, two charges of taking indecent images of children, two offences of possession of indecent images, nine of making indecent images, possession of prohibited images of children and possession of extreme pornographic images. He showed no reaction as he was jailed for 32 months, handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and told to sign the sex offenders' register for life.
Sentencing, Judge Simon Medland KC said: "I have to sentence you for criminal offending of a sexual nature over a more than 20-year period. Children are entitled to be left alone and entitled to be treated as children, not to be sexually abused for dirty minded people.
"You possessed the most disgusting sorts of videos imaginable. You will have watched them for your own sexual gratification. You then took dirty pictures of people who you saw in their houses. This has had a significant impact on them."
