FOUR Wirral businesses have been named in the Good Food Awards 2023.
The Good Food Awards, which were established in 2002, aim to promote local, independent businesses that create "delectable food".
They "firmly believe that these businesses are the backbone of our communities and are deserving of recognition for their hard work and unwavering dedication".
In this year's list, Wirral venues have been recognised in the Restaurants, Cafés, and Fish & Chips categories.
They collect nominations, feedback, votes, and online reviews from customers to reflect the opinions of actual diners.
Known as the "Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes", the prestigious awards are only given to those who excel in food quality, service, and value.
Here are the Wirral businesses that have been named in the Good Food Awards 2023.
Silk Rd, Heswall
The first 2023/24 Good Food Award Blue Ribbon winner is Silk Rd restaurant in Heswall.
Specialising in cuisine from China, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Greece, the Tapas restaurant sits on Telegraph Road and opened in 2017.
Dishes include pizzettes, from the wok, salads, fish and 'light bites'.
They also offer bottomless brunch every Friday – Sunday, 12pm-4pm.
The Tapas Kitchen, West Kirby
The next restaurant to scoop the award is The Tapas Kitchen in West Kirby.
The "Spanish-inspired" Tapas restaurant is located on Banks Road and recently celebrated its sixth anniversary with a new menu.
Owner Colin Gordon and the team curated the menu by assessing what dishes have been most popular since their inception in 2017 and asking customers for their feedback.
The eight sections of the small plates menu include For The Table, Charcuterie, Vegan, Seafood, Inspired, Meat, Arroz Al Horno and Sides.
In receiving the news about the Good Food Award the restaurant said "a very big thank you to everyone that voted for us".
Our Coffee Shop, Spital
Next up, and the only Wirral winner in the Cafés category is Our Coffee Shop in Spital.
Flavia Popa opened Our Coffee Shop on Spital Road in Autumn 2018 with the community embracing the family business.
Born in Romania, Flavia has lived in England for 13 years with the past seven years spent in Wirral and her menu ideas come from a blend of her heritage and her love of experimenting with new flavours.
Flavia said she was "overwhelmed by the support received from all over the Wirral" and "thank you to all our customers for sharing us with the world, this recognition means so much to us" after she received the Good Food Award.
Parkgate Fish & Chips
Finally, Parkgate Fish & Chips has scooped a Good Food Award in the Fish & Chips category this year.
The chip shop, at The Parade, "strives to serve fresh fish and chips at their best".
They provide complimentary seating so you can enjoy your fresh fish and chips when they are at their best.
The team also serves their delicious fish and chips at their café, Lilypad Café & Water Gardens, and has more recently been setting up their food truck at various events and locations.
