A charity is encouraging dog lovers to take on a new challenge.
Dogs Trust Merseyside has launched its '99k for Canines' initiative, urging people to help the dogs in their care by going on a sponsored walk in February.
The aim is to ensure the dogs at the rehoming centre have everything they need until they find permanent homes.
Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "The 99k for Canines challenge is a fun, flexible, and totally free way to support Dogs Trust dogs, as well as making sure you get out and about in the cold days of February, with or without a four-legged friend.
"You can complete your 99k as quickly or as gradually as you like at any location you fancy, from the beach to the back garden."
To join the challenge, participants can register on the Dogs Trust website.
Each participant will receive a free Dogs Trust bandana, a challenge guide, and a personal fundraising page.
If a dog joins in, an extra bandana will be given.
Those who raise £99 or more will get a free Dogs Trust T-shirt.
