Cruises and LFC tickets among 53 gifts offered to Joe Anderson

Die-hard Evertonian Joe Anderson has declined multiple tickets to watch Liverpool FC in action throughout his time as mayor – including some which would have taken him as far as Russia and Turkey.

Football tickets are just a few of the things on a public register of gifts offered to the mayor, which also includes paintings, paperweights, Veuve Clicquot and crates of ginger beer.

Tickets to Everton were, unsurprisingly, more likely to be snapped up by the mayor – but a significant number of tickets to football, tennis, horse racing and rugby events weren't taken up.

His years in the post have also seen him offered a variety of trips, including a cruise to Scotland and a visit to Sweden.

The majority of the gifts he did accept were often smaller, with artwork proving a favourite, while others were donated onwards to other causes.
