You might be doing it wrong if you start putting up your Christmas tree and decorations before this time.Christmas is well under way already in various parts of Merseyside as some people have already put up their Christmas lights, decorations and even trees.

It's happening already on Old Hall Street in Liverpool's business district as thousdands of peole pass a huge partially-constructed Christmas tree on their way into work. The tree split opinion, and kicked off a debate that comes around every year on when is the correct time to start putting up your decorations and get into the festive spirit.

It is an age-old question, and one that we are searching for an answer for. We're currently polling our readers on when they think is the best time to get the Christmas tree and the decorations out and to really start celebrating the festive period, and we think we might have an answer.

Currently, out of all the options available in our poll, early December is in the lead as the right time to start celebrating Christmas. In second place is November – for those who like to celebrate early, followed by late December – for those who want the festive period short but sweet and put the tree up late.
