A TEAM of British Gas engineers has helped keep foodbanks in Wirral and Ellesmere Port moving, by providing vital resources for those in need during the coronavirus outbreak.

Chester-based Mark Swann and his colleagues have volunteered their time and vehicles to collect food donations from local Tesco stores and deliver them to the Ellesmere Port and Wirral foodbanks, ensuring they remain fully-stocked and able to meet record demand.

The team has also been helping to parcel up the food and then distribute it to those in need across the region.

Their work is part of British Gas’ partnership with the Trussell Trust – which runs the Ellesmere Port and Wirral foodbanks – that has seen British Gas colleagues volunteer their time for food banks nationwide.

Mark Swann, customer delivery manager at British Gas, said: "Our local food banks provide an invaluable service to those in need.

"My dad has always supported food banks across Merseyside, and when I heard British Gas was supporting the efforts in my community, I wanted to do my bit.

"Volunteering our time and vehicles is the least we can do.

"It's made us all think a lot about those who are less fortunate than ourselves and I’m proud to be able to offer my support.”
