Body of missing man, 40, found in woodland

The body of a missing Wirral man was found in woodland this afternoon.

Robert Bigland, from Moreton, was last seen at his home at around 2pm on Tuesday.

Police this evening confirmed that officers searching for the 40-year-old found a body in woodland close to Pasture Road, in Moreton at 12.55pm.

The body has been formally identified as Robert Bigland. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Merseyside police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that officers searching for missing Wirral man Robert Bigland have sadly found a body today, Wednesday 9th June.

"The discovery was made in woodland close to Pasture Road in Moreton at 12.55pm.

"It has been formally identified as 40 year-old Robert Bigland from Moreton, who went missing from his home in Moreton yesterday (Tuesday).

"Mr Bigland’s death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed. A file is in the process of being prepared for the coroner."
