POLICE will continue to patrol one Birkenhead street after officers were threatened and verbally abused.
The incident happened on Newling Street yesterday, Friday, with one resident being arrested for a public order offence.
Officers are to remain in the area to offer reassurance to other residents and to reduce the risk of crime being committed.
Merseyside Police Wirral said: “We continue to patrol Newling Street in Birkenhead following anti-social behaviour and criminality.
“Yesterday, our PCSO officers were threatened and verbally abused.
“This resulted in a resident being arrested for a public order act offence and taken to custody for the evening.”
Patrols are also to be stepped up in Biston Hill following the fire service being called out to deal with a number of fires.
The force added: “We are working alongside our partners in Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Wirral Council to prevent further fires.
“Please act responsibly and ensure your children are not deliberately setting fire to dry land."
