Arrest made after 200 wraps of crack, heroine and cocaine seized

A MAN has been arrested after more than 200 wraps of suspected crack, cocaine and heroin were seized in Birkenhead.

On Wednesday (November 8) officers witnessed a suspected drugs deal in Whetstone Lane. Officers followed and detained a 29-year-old man on Oliver Street nearby.

Following a search, the man was found in possession of more than 200 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (heroin and crack cocaine). He is still in police custody to be questioned.

Inspector Stephen Morris said: “This arrest is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.

“We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Merseyside. Reading, Basingstoke, Berkshire

“If you have any concerns about drugs in your community, please come forward, either directly or anonymously and we will take action to make our streets safer.”

The arrest is part on the ongoing work to tackle county lines and organised crime. Since 2019, Project Medusa officers have closed 1,101 county lines; arrested 2,421 people for various offences including drug supply, firearms offences and money laundering; and identified 1,256 vulnerable adults and children who have been referred to safeguarding services.
