Air ambulance lands as injured girl, 11, flown to Alder Hey

A schoolgirl was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital with serious injuries after an incident in Widnes.

An air ambulance landed outside row of houses on Tedder Square in the town shortly before 11.20am on Sunday, May 23, as police were called to the scene.

North West Ambulance Service said two ambulances, an advanced paramedic and an operational commander also attended.

An 11-year-old girl was taken to Alder Hey where her condition is currently described as critical but stable, Cheshire Live reports.

Cheshire Police said they were called to the area to reports that a 11-year-old girl had sustained serious injuries following an incident outside an address on Tedder Square.

A spokesperson from the force said officers are currently establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident, but at this stage it does not appear to be suspicious.

A photo taken by an eyewitness at the scene shows a huge emergency services presence.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "Two ambulances, an air ambulance, an advanced paramedic and an operational commander attended an incident on Tedder Square, Widnes, following a 999 call at 11.13am on Sunday. We have taken a patient to hospital."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said: "At around 11.20am on Sunday, May 23 police were called to reports that a 11-year-old girl had sustained serious injuries following an incident outside an address on Tedder Square in Widnes.

"Police and paramedics attended the scene and the girl was subsequently taken to Alder Hey Hospital, her condition is currently described as critical but stable.

"Officer are currently establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident, but at this stage it does not appear to be suspicious."
