There is a large emergency services presence on Edge Lane tonight where police appear to have detained several people. The incident is on Edge Lane, near to St Cyprian with Christ Church.

Earlier this evening the ECHO received a short video showing at least five marked and unmarked police cars at a cordoned off strip of public land with may uniformed figures standing around and what appeared to be several people lying on the floor. A witness said it was Edge Lane by Holt Road, facing the Botanic Garden.

ECHO reporter Emily Carubia is at the scene. One onlooker told her: “There was nothing here at 10pm when I came home. Then police knocked on my door at 10.30. I heard all the sirens but I didn’t go out because we hear sirens all the time. The police asked for my camera footage”

Emily at the scene:

Good evening. I’m on Edge Lane Drive in Kenny where there is a huge police presence.

A passerby told the ECHO: “We were just coming down the road and we saw all the police cars. I’ve never seen so many police cars in my life. “We have no idea what’s happened but we saw three people getting arrested and put in the back of police cars.”
