Driver taken to hospital after car crashes into garden

A road was taped off this evening after a car crashed into a garden. The crash happened on Aintree Road in Bootle just before 7.30pm on Sunday, February 23. A large police cordon was in place east of the Aintree Road roundabout, with traffic blocked in both directions on Aintree Road and Hornby Road between the roundabout and Rice Lane.
The crash happened outside a house on the corner of Aintree Road and Connolly Avenue. When the ECHO went to the scene this evening, a black Audi was on its roof in the driveway of the home. Debris was scattered on the ground nearby.
A police forensics team was on the scene, along with several other police vehicles. The driver of the car reportedly escaped with only minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are currently in Bootle following a collision this evening, Sunday 23 February. At around 7.25pm, it was reported that a car had come off the road and collided into a front garden on Aintree Road.
"Emergency services attended the scene and thankfully there were no serious injuries. The driver was taken to hospital to be assessed and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident.
