POLICE are searching for the 'mindless cowards' who put a firework through the letterbox of a Wirral house on Bonfire Night.

The incident is reported to have taken place at a property on Brougham Avenue in Tranmere at around 8.50pm, damaging the carpet.

Thankfully, no one was injured, but the occupants of the house were left shaken up by the ordeal.

In a post on social media, the home's occupant commented: "At 9pm tonight these delights decided to put rocket through our door and missed my wife by inches and now destroyed our new flooring and décor. Would love to find out who was behind this.
