21 more dead in Merseyside as coronavirus death toll grows

NHS England says 21 more people have died at hospitals with coronavirus in Merseyside, as the national death toll in England grew by 788.

According to figures released on the NHS website today, 10 new deaths of people with the virus were recorded at Liverpool University Hospitals Trust, which includes the Royal Liverpool Hospital and Fazakerley Hospital.

There were no new deaths recorded at Arrowe Park Hospital or by Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, though six were recorded at Southport and Ormskirk and five at St Helens and Knowsley.

No deaths were recorded at Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital or the Walton Centre.

In Cheshire, a further death was recorded at the Warrington and Halton trust.

The data do not necessarily record deaths within the last day, but show when those deaths were recorded with coronavirus as a cause on the death certificate.
