A CHRISTMAS light switch-on is due to take place tomorrow evening (Sunday, November 19) in Greasby village.
The event will start at 3pm with live performances taking to the stage at Greasby Surgery’s car park.
This year, organisers of the event Light Up Greasby, have welcomed more than 150 children bauble decorating sessions which will be displayed in the village trees. More than 100 DIY lantern craft kits will also be available for children to make their own lanterns for the Festive Lantern Parade which will start at 5pm as part of the switch on event.
There will be story time with Santa sessions at The Manor in Greasby where families can enjoy a seasonal story and hot chocolate. The night will also host a free kid’s craft night.
The big switch on will take place at 5.30pm with the event ending at 6pm.
A spokesperson for Light up Greasby told the Globe: “We are a small team of volunteers who raise funds and organise our village Christmas lights and community Switch On event.
“We work throughout the year, alongside full-time jobs and families, to ensure our village sparkles each year and that there are fun and festive activities provided for local families.
“There are many teams across the Wirral who put in so much time and effort to make their towns and villages shine throughout the festive season. All funds are self generated, through creative fundraising activities, donation drives and support from local businesses.
“We are so excited to see the village buzzing with festive cheer and excitement ready for the Christmas countdown.”
